“To Cure disease, the abnormal parts must be adjusted to the normal”

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy that follows the principle of the body as a dynamic unit of function. Treatment is gentle, non-invasive and encourages the body’s self-healing capacity by restoring proper body mechanics, nerve impulses, and circulation of the body’s fluids. The osteopathic manual practitioner (OMP) focuses on finding the root of the problem and treating it, which helps the body return to a healthy state.

The benefits:

  • reduce muscle and joint pain in both acute and chronic conditions

  • restore proper body mobility to joints and tissues, producing well-balanced posture

  • calm down the nervous system enhancing the relationship between mind and body

  • improve circulation and fluid exchange within the body promoting the body’s self-healing, self-regulating capacities.

About me

Yukiko (Yuki) Kawada
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, M.OMSc

Hi, I am Yuki. I am an osteopathic manual practitioner (OMP). I was born and raised in Japan but moved to Canada in search of a peaceful pace of life close to nature. My passion for snowboarding and the mountains led me to settle in Whistler BC.

I have been involved in sports both competitively and professionally since childhood, I was a competitive figure skater in my youth. When I moved to Canada, I started working as a snowboard instructor, eventually becoming one of the most experienced female instructors in this country. This led to international opportunities I traveled to many countries to teach and mentor other instructors.

Living an active lifestyle in Whistler introduced me to manual therapy through physical conditioning and several injuries. I was grateful to receive treatments from many skilled manual practitioners here in Whistler and this inspired me to become a manual practitioner. I studied massage therapy as a starting point, and I have been working as a massage practitioner for over ten years.

I remember my first osteopathic treatment, I was impressed by the effectiveness of the treatment given via such gentle and non-invasive application. The principle of osteopathy considers the body as a whole unit of function appealed to me. That is one of the reasons why I decided to study osteopathy and become an osteopathic manual practitioner.

My treatment approach is to work with the patient's body using gentle and non-invasive techniques offering a pain-free and calming treatment. This helps the body to realign its structures, inducing the body’s self-healing properties and restoring healthy conditions.

I am very excited that the osteopathic skills I learned can help people maintain or restore health so that they may continue to enjoy their lifestyle. I have been helped by so many great manual practitioners these past few years; I feel it is my turn to contribute and help others with my osteopathic skills.

“We look at the body in health as meaning perfection and harmony, not in one part, but in the whole..”
